Tomorrow We Live, was written across the NYC skyline near the Statue Of Liberty by small planes. It was really amazing.

मोको कहां ढूँढे रे बन्दे

मैं तो तेरे पास में,

ना तीरथ मे ना मूरत में

ना एकान्त निवास में,
ना मंदिर में ना मस्जिद में
ना काबे कैलास में,
मैं तो तेरे पास में बन्दे

ना मैं जप में ना मैं तप में
ना मैं बरत उपास में,
ना मैं किरिया करम में रहता
नहिं जोग सन्यास में,
नहिं प्राण में नहिं पिंड में

 यह कदंब का पेड़ - सुभद्रा कुमारी चौहान 

यह कदंब का पेड़ अगर माँ होता यमुना तीरे,

मैं भी उस पर बैठ कन्हैया बनता धीरे-धीरे। 

ले देतीं यदि मुझे बांसुरी तुम दो पैसे वाली,
किसी तरह नीची हो जाती यह कदंब की डाली। 

तुम्हें नहीं कुछ कहता पर मैं चुपके-चुपके आता,
उस नीची डाली से अम्मा ऊँचे पर चढ़ जाता। 

वहीं बैठ फिर बड़े मजे से मैं बांसुरी बजाता,
अम्मा-अम्मा कह वंशी के स्वर में तुम्हे बुलाता।

सुन मेरी बंसी को माँ तुम इतनी खुश हो जाती,
मुझे देखने काम छोड़कर तुम बाहर तक आती।

तुमको आता देख बाँसुरी रख मैं चुप हो जाता,
पत्तों मे छिपकर धीरे से फिर बाँसुरी बजाता।

गुस्सा होकर मुझे डाटती, कहती "नीचे आजा",
पर जब मैं ना उतरता, हँसकर कहती, "मुन्ना राजा"।

"नीचे उतरो मेरे भईया तुंझे मिठाई दूँगी,
नये खिलौने, माखन-मिसरी, दूध मलाई दूँगी"।

बहुत बुलाने पर भी माँ जब नहीं उतर कर आता,
माँ, तब माँ का हृदय तुम्हारा बहुत विकल हो जाता। 

तुम आँचल फैला कर अम्मां वहीं पेड़ के नीचे,
ईश्वर से कुछ विनती करतीं बैठी आँखें मीचे। 

तुम्हें ध्यान में लगी देख मैं धीरे-धीरे आता,
और तुम्हारे फैले आँचल के नीचे छिप जाता। 

तुम घबरा कर आँख खोलतीं, पर माँ खुश हो जाती,
जब अपने मुन्ना राजा को गोदी में ही पातीं। 

इसी तरह कुछ खेला करते हम-तुम धीरे-धीरे,
यह कदंब का पेड़ अगर माँ होता यमुना तीरे ।

Recipe from the heart of Kumaon.

Rus is a kind of lentils soup prepared by mixed lentils stock.

Ingredients

• 1cup Gahat
• 1/2cup Kala chana
• 1/2cup Bhatt
• 1/2cup Rajma
• 1/2cup Kabuli chana
• 1cup Whole urad
• 1/2cup Lobia
• 1/2cup beans
• 1tsp Cumin powder
• 1tsp Coriander powder
• 1tsp Garam masala
• 1/2tsp Red chili powder
• 2tbsp Ginger and garlic paste
• A pinch of hing, turmeric powder
• 3pinches of clove powder and pepper powder
• 2-3tbsp Ghee
• Salt to taste

Preparation

Rus:

1. Soak all Dals overnight and wash them.
2. Soak rice overnight and grind into fine paste.
3. In a pressure cooker, cook the dals together with water.
4. Strain to seperate the solid dal from the rus. Mix the solid dal with some more water, heat and mash to obtain more rus and strain it too.
5. Mash and strain the remaining pulp again till the water runs clear.
6. In an iron kadai, heat ghee put hing (Aesafoetida), jeera and allow it to crackle. Now add ginger garlic paste to it and saute for a few seconds. Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masal, crushed cloves, peppers and salt.
7. Add the rus (Stock) to this mixture (which is inside the kadai) keep boiling till it satrts to thicken. If its not then add some rice paste and start boiling again.
8. Then Serve hot with lots of ghee and rice. (I like it with roti :))

Ladoos:

1. We can make ladoos from the solid part which is seperated from the rus. (My mom does this)
2. Add chopped onion and little bit pickle oil to the solid dal
3. Shape it into big round balls and serve it with lime and chat masala.

Empire Palace is our new favorite restaurant. This place is awesome and food is really very good. The vegetable egg rolls, General Tso's and Wonton soups are all fantastic.

I just love this restaurant. एक तो यहाँ ज़्यादा भीड़ भाड़ नहीं होती और दूसरा यहाँ का जनरल टीसोस चिकन लाजवाब है। ऐसी कोई भी जगह नही है इस शहर में जो मुझे इतनी अच्छी लगती हो जितना यह प्यारा सा चाइनीज़ रेस्टोरेंट और यहाँ का चिकन :)। From the outside, it looks like nothing special..You would walk right by this place and never know it. You have to know it's there but when it comes to food, as i wrote earlier, it is just delicious.
